Post-Lockdown Gallery Openings
I’d hardly say we’re in a “Post-Covid” state, but galleries in NYC are started to open for in-person viewings.
Many of the big names like Pace and Gagosian have decided to sit this one out, while others are simply extending the lives of shows that were on view prior to the pandemic, and others are relying on purely online exhibits.
There’s no right or wrong way to deal with this, but I know personally I’m excited to see some art in-person again. The only thing I will warn against is the fact that galleries are still maintaining their summer hours..despite being in a summer-like state for the past 4 months. So before you plan a visit to the non-appointment required galleries, double-check the hours on the gallery website, since many are only open during very short windows (Tues - Fri, 11-5, for example).
